If you've spent some time going through my homepage or social media, you'll notice a theme. I love motherhood. Mothers are strong, resilient, incredibly courageous & giving. And mothers are busy. Not only are you keeping your children alive and thriving, but you're also responsible for making sure that their memories get documented and preserved. I'm right there with you as a mother of two not so little ones anymore, and I see daily the beautiful moments that must be captured and remembered. Like you, I wish nothing more than for my children to know how much I love them, and I want to leave them a legacy of images that chronicle the story of their lives. So I tend to every detail so that you can spend time where it matters most - with your family.

Your baby bump - baby's home for nine long months. Tiny baby toes, back rolls, and wisps of hair. Clapping their little hands out of excitement when they begin to sit on their own. Looking so big standing up only twelve short months later. Memories of grandparent snuggles celebrating baby turning one and watching the family grow together over the course of a year. Each baby is unique, and every one year's story is one of a kind. You choose which moments to document and which memories to savor.
Step One
Once your session is reserved, I'll take care of the planning details for you. We've narrowed down to our favorite session locations to choose from: a beach location, or your home./ vaca rental. You will be able to view my curated client wardrobe online to choose outfits for your entire family, - yes, I even carry Dad shirts. If you decide to wear your own things, I'll assist you with the perfect choices to line up with the studio's style. I'll even give you the contact info of my favorite hair and makeup team (optional and at add. cost) to come to your home/ hotel so that you can relax, be pampered, and feel beautiful on the day of your session.
What's next
Step Two
The day of your session has arrived! Your day will be peaceful and relaxing. If you have booked a hair and makeup artist, they will come to your home/ vacation rental a few hours before your session. After finishing up, we meet at our chosen location. The client wardrobe items you've planned to borrow will be steamed and ready for dressing. My organic posing style allows for natural interactions, hugs, kisses, and tickle parties to keep your little ones interested. For studio sessions (returning in 2022) I have a full array of snacks, beverages, and a children's play area to keep everyone happy. during studio sessions.
After your session
Within two weeks, your images will be edited and ready for viewing! We'll set a date to meet back at your home, a coffee shop, or via Google Meet (only available for out of town clients) for your Design & Ordering appointment. This is when you'll view your images as beautiful prints, make stacks of your favorites, and I'll guide you through choosing the artwork or files that best suit your family and home. There is no minimum purchase; choose only what you love. We'll finish up your order at this appointment, so it's best for all decision makers to attend!

Choosing outfits for portraits can be stressful, time consuming, and expensive. As part of your session experience, you'll have access to the AKP Client Wardrobe. I offer clothing for mamas (size 0-18), shirts for dads (size S-XL), and children's clothing from 3 months to age 4. The wardrobe is optional, however most clients choose to borrow once they have seen the luxury collection of flattering dresses. All clients will receive personalized wardrobe planning services, even if they choose not to borrow.

Q: Is wardrobe included?
A: Yes, and there are a ton of perfectly curated options.! I have clothing for mamas (sizes 0-16), shirts for Dad (small-XL), and the cutest outfits for children (ages 3 months-5yrs). You will have the opportunity to try options on during your planning consultation, or view and mark your favorite items online through a private wardrobe link.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A HAIR AND MAKEUP ARTIST AVAILABLE?
A: I highly recommend these services for all portrait sessions including the mama. I work with the best hair and makeup artist and will share their info once your session is booked. The HMUA will do your hair and makeup in the comfort of your own home/ vacation rental so that you can relax, be pampered, and feel beautiful on the day of your session. Hair and makeup is an additional charge (paid directly to the stylist). Hair and makeup with our preferred stylists range from $220-250 depending on the services and stylist available.
Q: What is an ordering appointment?
After your session, we will meet back at the studio where you will have the chance to view your images for the first time in print. I help and guide you in narrowing down your favorites, and help you choose artwork or files that suites your family best. This service is part of what makes AKP so special! I love offering a full service experience so that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your beautiful artwork - without doing any of the work. All decision makers are asked to be present during this appointment, as your order will be finalized at this time. If it's not possible for all to attend, please be sure to discuss your budget thoroughly before your appointment.
Q: We live far away, is the ordering appointment required?
A: The design and ordering appointment is an integral part of the AKP experience, and part of what makes me different than other photographers! Over the years, I have found that it is usually significantly easier and more enjoyable for my clients to return to the studio to choose their products with my assistance. I know that scheduling can be difficult for clients who live over an hour away or have other circumstances. For this reason, I offer virtual appointments upon request. All clients receive online galleries after their ordering appointments, should they decide to purchase the digital files. All decision makers are asked to be present during this appointment, as your order will be finalized at this time. If it's not possible for all to attend, please be sure to discuss your budget thoroughly before your appointment.
Q: When should I schedule my sessions?
A: As soon as you know that you would like me to be your photographer, I recommend getting on the schedule! Maternity sessions are held between 28-32 weeks pregnant. Newborn sessions are typically completed within the first 21 days of life, on Tuesday or Thursday mornings. Maternity and Newborn sessions should be booked early in pregnancy to ensure availability. Sitter sessions are held when your baby can sit unassisted; usually around 6-8 months, but varies for each baby. I recommend scheduling family portraits yearly, 2-3+ months in advance.
Q: How do I schedule a newborn session?
A: When you reserve your newborn session you will reserve a date for the week following your due date. More often than not, this date ends up working out just fine. However, because all babies and births are different, this date may change once your baby arrives. I ask that you notify me of your baby's arrival within 24 hours (a quick text from a family member or friend is fine) and if we need to make any adjustments to our scheduled date, we'll do so at that time.
Q: Does the Session Fee include digital files?
A: I do things differently than most photographers, and that's part of what makes the AKP experience so special! Your session fee includes your experience with me; my planning services, a consultation if you desire, access to the studio wardrobe (over 225 items for mamas, dads, and kiddos!), your session time, the Signature processing of the images we created together, and your design and ordering appointment. At your guided design and ordering appointment, you'll view your images in print and I'll guide you through selecting the perfect artwork options or digital files for your family.
