Destin Florida kid activities are some of the best you’ll find anywhere on the Gulf Coast — and I say that as someone who actually lives here. Even after a few years, we still find ourselves hitting the same spots with our own kids and never getting tired of it. That’s just what Destin does to you.
Whether you’re visiting for a week or just a long weekend, here are my favorite kid activities in Destin that the whole family will love.

I know, I know — but it has to be said. Destin’s sugar-white sand and emerald water are genuinely unlike anywhere else on the Gulf Coast, and kids lose their minds over it every single time. Building sandcastles, hunting for sand dollars, jumping waves — you could spend your entire trip right here and go home happy.
Pro tip: Early morning is the best time to go. The light is beautiful, the crowds haven’t arrived yet, and kids are at their most energetic. It’s also my favorite time to photograph families, if you happen to be thinking about a session while you’re here.

No list of Destin Florida kid activities would be complete without the beach — and I know, I know, but it has to be said. Go-karts, mini golf, arcade games — The Track is one of those Destin Florida kid activities that burns serious energy in the best possible way. Great for older kids who want something more high-speed than the beach.
If you’re visiting in the summer, Big Kahuna’s is a must. Water slides, a lazy river, kiddie pools — it covers all the bases regardless of your kids’ ages. Go on a weekday if you can to beat the lines.
This place is more than a restaurant — it’s basically a mini amusement park with alligators. Yes, real alligators. They’re safely enclosed, but kids can get up close, and on good days you can even get your photo taken holding a baby gator. As far as Destin Florida kid activities go, this one is completely unique and kids talk about it long after the trip is over.
Just a short drive from Destin, the Gulfarium is one of our family’s favorite spots. Dolphin shows, sea lion encounters, and a full aquarium — it’s educational without feeling like school. The animal encounters are bookable add-ons and absolutely worth it if you have kids who are into marine life. I have a full guide to the Gulfarium here if you want all the details before you go.

HarborWalk is great for an evening out with the whole family. Street performers, live music, waterfront dining, and in the summer — fireworks. Grab some ice cream and just wander. Kids love the energy of it, and parents love having a drink with a harbor view while the kids watch the boats come in.
If your kids have never been deep sea fishing, Destin is the place to do it — this is the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” after all. Fishing charters and dolphin cruises are among the most memorable Destin Florida kid activities, especially at sunset when the light turns everything golden and the dolphins show up right on cue.
Perfect for curious kids who love hands-on learning. Interactive exhibits, sea turtles, dinosaur bones, robots — it’s the kind of place where your kids are learning without realizing it. Great for all ages and a solid rainy day option too.

Speaking of rainy days — they happen! Here are my favorite Destin Florida kid activities when the weather doesn’t cooperate:

You’re going to take approximately 400 phone photos on this trip and struggle to print a single one. I say this with love, because I hear it from families all the time.
Of all the Destin Florida kid activities on this list, a beach photography session is the one parents tell me they’re most glad they added to the trip. Kids at this age, in this place, with this light — it goes fast. I’d love to be your Destin family photographer while you’re here.
