What to Expect From Your Emerald Coast Newborn Photographer

As an emerald coast newborn photographer, the moments I treasure most happen in the quiet. A baby finally asleep on a parent’s chest. A dad looking down at his newborn like he can’t quite believe it. A mom exhaling for the first time in hours. I was there once too, holding my own newborn and thinking, “I never want to forget this.” That’s exactly what drives me to do this work, and exactly what I want to give you.

If you’re searching for an emerald coast newborn photographer and you’re local to Niceville, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, or the surrounding area, I’d love to be the one to hold onto this season for you.

What Your Emerald Coast Newborn Photographer Session Looks Like

I photograph newborns in my Niceville studio, where I’ve created a warm and cozy space built specifically for new families. The temperature is kept toasty for your baby, the lighting is soft and gentle, and there is absolutely no rush. Newborn sessions are baby-led, which means we follow your little one’s cues. We feed when they’re hungry, soothe when they need settling, and pause whenever we need to. Most sessions last two to four hours, and that is perfectly okay.

Some of the most beautiful moments happen in those quiet in-between stretches. I’ll gently guide you so your photographs feel natural, relaxed, and beautifully timeless. You don’t need to know how to pose. You just need to show up, and I’ll take care of the rest.

When to Book Your Newborn Session

I always recommend reaching out during your second trimester, ideally around 20 to 25 weeks along. Newborn sessions are best photographed in the first two weeks of life, when babies are still curled up in that sleepy, perfectly squishy newborn way, and pediatricians agree these early weeks are a uniquely fleeting window. Because sessions fill quickly, reserving your spot early ensures I’m available right when you need me. If your baby has already arrived and you haven’t booked yet, reach out right away and I’ll do my best to make it work.

What to Bring (Honestly, Very Little)

I keep a full collection of wraps, props, and organic textures in soft, neutral tones in the studio, so you truly don’t need to stress about this. If there are special heirloom pieces you’d love to include, a blanket your grandmother made, a sentimental outfit, or a tiny pair of shoes passed down from a sibling, bring those along. Those personal details are the ones that make your photographs feel like yours. For parents, I suggest soft, neutral tones like whites, creams, and earthy colors. Simple and comfortable is always the right answer.

Lifestyle Newborn Sessions in Your Home

If you’d love something more relaxed and documentary in feel, I also offer lifestyle newborn sessions in your home. These sessions capture your family exactly as you are, snuggled in bed, nursing in the nursery you so lovingly put together, or piled together on the couch while the morning light comes through the window. There is something deeply special about photographs taken in the space where you’re living these early days, and families treasure them for exactly that reason. If you’re local to the Emerald Coast and your home has good natural light, this could be a beautiful option for you.

Heirloom Artwork That Lasts Generations

I believe photographs are meant to be held, displayed, and passed down. The artwork you choose from your newborn session will become something your child grows up seeing every single day, a visual reminder of how completely loved they were from the very beginning. I offer fine art prints, albums, and framed wall pieces, and I’ll walk you through all of it during your ordering appointment so the process feels easy and exciting. You’ll be guided every step of the way, from the moment you first reach out to the day your artwork arrives at your door.
