I’m a Shalimar newborn photographer who welcomes families into my Niceville studio for calm, unhurried sessions. You bring your baby, and I bring the warm room and the soft light. Many of my newborn families live in Shalimar and Fort Walton Beach, and the drive to my studio is short. Meanwhile, you can rest, feed your baby, and let me handle the rest.
I never had a newborn session with my children. Newborn sessions weren’t a thing in Germany when my babies were born, so my memories come from a hospital session for my daughter. She wore a hot pink Hello Kitty romper, and my 12-year-old son joined a few photographs in a bright teal fleece pullover. Nobody planned an outfit. While I treasure those pictures, I wish I had gorgeous newborn portraits from a professional studio, and that wish makes these sessions so dear to my heart.
My studio is a calm and cozy space just for families. I keep the room warm for your baby, and a bright window gives the soft light I love. Furthermore, the studio is private, so you can soothe your baby in peace.
I keep a collection of wraps and organic textures in soft, neutral tones. You don’t need to bring props. If you have a blanket your grandmother made, bring it along, because personal details make your photographs feel like yours.

Newborn sessions are baby-led. We feed when your baby is hungry and pause to soothe when your baby needs it. Most sessions last 1.5 to 3 hours, and I leave room for the pauses.
Posing takes no practice on your part. You’ll be guided every step of the way, so your photographs feel natural and timeless.
Parents often ask about swaddling at home. The American Academy of Pediatrics shares clear guidance on safe swaddling, and it is worth a read before your baby arrives.

I recommend reaching out in your second trimester, around 20 to 25 weeks. Newborn sessions are best when your baby is 5 to 14 days old, because babies stay curled up and sleepy in those first days. I photograph newborns on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and booking early lets me hold one near your due date. If your baby arrives before you book, send me a message, and I’ll share my next open Tuesday or Thursday morning.
Many parents ask about timing within the day, so I wrote a guide to the best time of day for your newborn studio session. Furthermore, if you have an older child, I share ideas for keeping a toddler engaged during your newborn session.

Shalimar sits beside Eglin Air Force Base, and many local families serve there. I offer newborn sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in my Niceville studio. Orders and schedules can shift on short notice, so reaching out in your second trimester gives us the most room to plan. Send me your due date, and I’ll hold a morning near it.
For parents, I suggest soft, neutral tones, such as cream and earthy colors. Simple and comfortable is the right choice.
If you would like help, my client closet is available with your booked session. We plan together on a video call before your session, so you arrive ready. You can read more about how I work as a personal stylist for photo sessions.

I spent most of my first six weeks in a recliner, feeding hungry newborns for hours. Hair and makeup were the last things on my mind. Professional hair and makeup are included with my Signature Session, so you sit in the chair, relax, and let someone take care of you for a change.
I tell my clients how gorgeous they look, and I mean it. I don’t know how new moms do it. You carry so much in those first weeks, and you deserve to see yourself in your photographs.
Photographs belong on your walls and in your hands. After your session, I guide you through choosing heirloom albums and framed fine art prints that fit your home. Your baby will grow up seeing these portraits each day, a reminder of how loved they were from the first days. You can see more of my work on my Destin newborn photographer service page.

I’m available for newborn sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, year-round, in my Niceville studio, and I would love to photograph your baby’s first days.
