I waited to book my own family session, and the reason was my outfits. I already had a small client closet of my own at that point, and I still could not decide what to wear. The dates on my photographer’s calendar kept filling up while I put it off, until I grabbed the last open slot.
Getting my hair and makeup done made the day feel special. Once they were finished, I felt like a queen in front of the camera, and I loved every photograph we took. Wardrobe help was not part of what my photographer offered at that time, and looking back, I know what would have moved me faster. Someone who knows what works could have talked it out with me and planned the looks together.
That is the help I offer now. Once you book, we plan the outfits together, so you never face that question alone.
What Working With Me as Your Stylist Looks Like
Before Your Session
Once you book, we schedule your planning video call to talk through the look you have in mind. I ask about your family and the outfits you already own, and we work out the direction together. You can also browse my online wardrobe gallery and heart click the pieces you love, and I use those choices to understand your taste. I guide you on colors, textures, and how each person’s outfit fits with the others. That planning video call is the part of my own session I wish I’d had.
If You Already Have Outfits
Most families think they have everything they need for a session, and I am happy to work with what they bring. Send me photos and I will tell you what works and what to adjust. Once they see the outfits I carry in my studio, many families change their minds. Mom tries on a dress from the closet, the kids slip into soft pastels that match, and the whole family ends up wearing pieces from it.
Other times, one small swap does the job. I trade a busy pattern for a solid piece, or mom wears a dress from the closet while everyone else wears their own clothes. Either way, you decide once you see the options in person, with no pressure to use the closet.
If You Want to Borrow
My client closet holds women’s dresses in sizes XS to XL and children’s pieces from three months to seven years. Dad shirts run S to XL. Everything sits in a soft palette of neutrals, blush, sage green, and soft blue, so the pieces mix together without guesswork.
If you are local, come in for a styling consultation and try things on. Some local clients join the planning video call instead. My repeat clients trust me with their outfits, so they often skip the trip and pick their pieces on session day. If you are visiting, come in on session day, try on your pre-selected pieces, and explore a few more. I collect everything afterward, so you never wash or return a thing.
Who Benefits Most From a Personal Stylist
Traveling families have no time to shop once they land in Destin, and a suitcase full of outfit options takes up space they need for beach gear. Moms with little ones in tow already carry enough, and one less decision helps. Pregnant moms deserve a dress that feels comfortable at eight or nine months along, and the closet takes that pressure away. You’ll be guided every step of the way, so you have nothing left to figure out on the morning of your session.
What a Personal Stylist Costs
Personal stylists charge $75 to $250 per hour in the United States, and stylists who work on photo shoots charge between $200 and $1,000 per session. Clothing purchases come on top of those fees.
With me, the styling guidance and the client closet come with your session booking. This styling help is part of every booked session, and I do not offer it as a standalone service. You get a personal stylist’s eye on your outfits without adding a separate line to your budget. The money you would have spent on new outfits and a stylist can go toward heirloom artwork instead.
